Bernard Boecker

WESLACO – Bernard Francis Boecker passed away on Easter Sunday, April 05, 2015.

He was born on September 22, 1932 to August (Gus) and Elizabeth (Beth Green) Boecker.

A graduate of Weslaco High School, he was very active in the Future Farmers of America (FFA). Those years helped prepare him for his life as a farmer.

He remained in Weslaco most of his life, and left only to serve four years in the United States Air Force. For relaxation he enjoyed bowling and played on a bowling league. He was a faithful fan of the Weslaco Panthers Football Team, and attended as many games as possible.

At one point in his life he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. As a faithful Catholic, he was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

At the time of his death he was an active member of the Weslaco Lion's Club.

Bernard is survived by two sisters, one brother and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins throughout the U.S.

His brother, Joe Boecker, lives in Decatur, IL. His sisters are Dorothy Becker (Henry, deceased) of Galveston, TX and Cecilia Bengele (Florian) of Helotes TX. Nieces include Catherine Ward (Gregory) of Houston, TX, Rosemary Bengele Sater (Steven) of Los Angeles, CA, Patricia Bengele of Helotes, TX and Elizabeth Bengele (Gregory Pappas) of Dracut, MA. Nephews include Michael Bengele (Ann) of San Antonio, TX and John David Becker of Galveston, TX. Grandnephews include Mathew Ward of Houston and Samuel, Jackson and Oliver Bengele of San Antonio formerly of Sydney, Australia.

Services will begin with a Rosary at 7:00 PM Friday, April 10th, at McCaleb Funeral Home on 900 West 4th Street in Weslaco. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 11th, at St. Pius X Church on 600 South Oklahoma in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, TX.

Memorial contributions may be sent in his name to St. Pius X Church.
