WESLACO - Asencion Ponce, 83, passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. She was born on November 21, 1935, to Luciano Roman and Petra Espinoza in Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Asencion married Jose Ponce Sr. and they moved to Weslaco in 1976. They raised one son together, Jose Ponce Jr. Asencion enjoyed cooking and caring for her grandchildren. She helped raise her three grandchildren, picking them up from school and making sure they had good meals.
Asencion is preceded in death by her parents, Luciano and Petra Roman, husband, Jose Sr. and son, Jose Jr.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Jose Ponce III, Isaiah Ponce, and Viviana Ponce.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15th, 2019, 3-9pm, with a rosary at 7pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be held on Monday, September 16th, 2019, 10am, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
