Donna- Balam Perez, 47, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. He was born on January 6, 1973, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Ricardo Perez and Maria del Rosario Perez.

Balam grew up in the mid-valley area with six children. He married his high school sweetheart, Elvira Rea, and they raised three children.

Balam was a big teddy bear. He was Sensitive and wasn't afraid to show it. He adored his grandkids, Zoey, Kane, Jasper, & most recent Mark Jr. Balam was such a family man. He used to call everyone to check upon them. Balam was such a jokester, so loving, caring, and hardworking. Even though he never had the best-paying jobs, but he was always an excellent provider, and our family had all we wanted and more.

Balam, a true-family man, loved our trips to the island to the zoo, anywhere we were. He loved going to my grandmas, and when everyone would join in, in playing Loteria. His signature look was his button-up, two striped shirts with shorts and sandals and socks and sandals in the winter. There were times when he was stubborn, but this was only because he knew what was best for us, and we appreciated his tough love.

Balam loved 80s rock, Iron maiden, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, queen, and an occasional country listener, George Straight, Garth Brooks."

He is survived by his dad and step-mom, Ricardo and Maria del Rosario Perez, wife, Elvira Perez, son, Jonathan Perez, Vivian Martinez (Roger), and Mark Anthony Perez (Ashley), grandchildren, Zoey, Mark Jr., and Kane Perez, and Jasper Martinez, sisters, Rita Perez, Marcy Cardona (Joey), Veronica Perez, Teressa Perez, and Rachel Perez, and brother, Martin Perez.
