Christopher Forest

April 11, 1950 — March 22, 2020

Christopher Forest, 69, passed away at his winter home in Weslaco on Sunday, March 22, 2020. He was born on April 11, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa, and was adopted three days later by his mom, Louise, who was a single parent.

Chris grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with his older sister, Marian. The three of them (mom, Chris, and Marian), had a ton of adventures. They traveled to forty-eight states, showing sheepdogs. Chris loved dogs and all of their experiences.

Chris was very independent and didn’t like to play by the rules that included his mom’s standards, so he moved out on his own at the age of fifteen. Chris had various jobs, but made it work, and supported himself.

In 1970, he married Norma Miller. The couple lived in several towns before settling down in Waverly, Iowa, in 1979. Chris worked at John Deere for five and a half years before being laid off. He started a career at Modern Builders, where he retired after thirty-five years.

Chris was a hard worker and always provided for his family. He and Norma raised three boys together, Aaron, Randy, and Kelly.

After Chris’s retirement in 2016, Chris and Norma took up traveling. Chris loved to attend Good Sam’s Rallies and meeting new people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone. Chris had a heart of gold and was always willing to help. Chris would do anything for anyone in need that just came naturally to him.

About three years ago, he and Norma began spending winters in Weslaco, Texas at Leisure World RV Park and made lots of dear friends. Chris’s laughter and love will be missed by all who knew him.

Chris is preceded in death by his mom, Louise Forest.

He is survived by his wife, Norma, sons, Aaron Forest (Leslie) of Waverly, Iowa, Randy Forest (Melissa Trewin) of Waterloo, Iowa, and Kelly Forest (Corrisa Jones) of Clarksville, Iowa, grandchildren, Xander, Stone, Max, Harrison, Graham, Alex, and Avery, sister, Marian Francis, sister in law, Kathy Henrich (Harley), brothers in law, Dennis Miller (Sharon), and Gordon Miller.
