Isabel Cantu

November 5, 1952 — January 19, 2021

Isabel "Izzy" (Chavelo) Cantu- Donna, Texas and St. Cloud, Minnesota
Isabel Cantu died peacefully at St. Cloud Hospital; January 19th, 2021, at the age of 68. He was born in Donna, Texas, to Camila Cantu on November 5th, 1952.

We know dad is looking down on us right now, and he truly knows how loved he was. Our dad would have loved all this attention. What can I say about the world's greatest dad? Dad was honorable; he was kind, he was sweet to everyone he met and charismatic, everyone in the neighborhood called him the "deputy dog", which he was awarded by the St. Cloud Police department. He was well known in his community. Dad was so loving and giving. He cared with a passion, unlike anything we have ever seen.

He worked hard at everything he put his hands on and created magic. He touched so many lives. Dad was an incredible man, he loved Life, and he loved us all. I know we have all heard this before, and we haven't really realized it until now, that Life is a lot shorter than any of us realize, and you just don't know what you have until it's gone.

He was a great husband and father to all of us kids. He was also an amazing grandfather to our children and an amazing, great grandfather to his great-granddaughter. It is sad that he is gone, but we know he is no longer in pain now, and now he is getting funky with all the angels in heaven.

We miss you, Dad, we love you, Dad, you will forever be our hero. God loved you, and now you are home. We will see you again someday. Thank you for being our dad.

Isabel was preceded in death by his best friend and love of his Life, Virginia, his mom Camila Cantu, his brother Jose Cantu and his sister Minerva Benitez, Margarita Cantu, Socorro Cantu, and Juanito Cantu; also, his nieces Lucy and Patricia.

He is survived by his son Roland N Cantu and wife Christine Farias Cantu, his daughters Rachel Cantu, Rita Cantu- Wells, and husband Alonzo Cantu- Wells, Marylou Placencia, and husband Fausto Placencia. He is also survived by his granddaughters Brittany Roy and husband Tristan Roy, Kimberley Cantu, Karalee Cantu, grandsons Angel Cantu- Wells, and Alexandro Cantu- Wells, his great-granddaughter Valerie Bianca Roy. He is also survived by his sisters San Juanita Cantu, Elizabeth Salazar, Angelita Cantu, brothers Arturo Salazar and Lorenzo Cantu.

.... And to our family Luke 1:37 say. For with God, nothing shall be impossible. If we as a family can put our trust in God, we can and will get through anything. While on the ride called life, you have to take the good with the bad, smile when you are sad, love what you've got, and remember what you had. Always forgive, but never forget. Learn from your mistakes but never regret them. People change. Things go wrong; just remember; the ride goes on.

A viewing will be at 9 am February 20th, 2021, at McCaleb Funeral Home 900 W 4th St. Weslaco, Texas 78596. Burial will follow at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes at 2:00 pm.
