James was born in Camden, AK to Odis Forrest Fite and Emmogene Thomas Fite on March 15, 1945. He went to school at Fairview High School in Camden, AK. He married Tiena Bennett on June 9, 1967 in Hot Springs, AK.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Odis Forrest Fite and Emmogene Thomas Fite, and sister Sybilene Fite.
James is survived by his wife, Tiena Fite; son, James Odis Fite, Jr.; brother, Donnie Fite; grandchildren: Alexandra Elizabeth Fite, Samantha Jane Fite-Blankenfeld and James Odis Fite III; and great-grandchildren: Everleigh Paige Fite and Jack Emerson Blankenfeld.
