August 29, 1954 - January 22, 2020
WESLACO - Manuel Camarillo Sr., 65, entered his eternal resting place on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Manuel was born on August 29, 1954, to Juan Angel Camarillo and Maria De Los Santos Arteaga in Weslaco, Texas. He attended school in Weslaco but migrated up north to farm for most of his life. Manuel was a very hard worker and enjoyed the opportunity to travel that came with farming. He found work in every state he wanted to visit. He loved to work, so he visited almost the entire United States. Manuel also farmed in the Rio Grande Valley and enjoyed the cotton industry. Manuel met his future bride, Ninfa Fonseca when she was working at the local Pizza Hut as a young adult. They married on October 5, 1974, and spent the rest of their lives together, raising three boys together, Manuel Jr., Angel David, and Omar. Manuel spent the last seven years of his life working at La Plaza Mall in McAllen. He never had a problem finding work, because he was very likable and talkative. He could make any stranger a friend. One of Manuel’s favorite pastimes was visiting with the neighbors. He walked around the neighborhood, visiting with lifelong friends, telling stories, and listening. Manuel’s greatest asset was his family. He spent all of his spare time with them. Manuel was especially proud of his grandchildren and loved when they would visit. He was sure to take them on his daily neighborhood stroll. Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Maria Camarillo. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years, Ninfa, sons, Manuel Camarillo Jr., Angel David Camarillo (Aida), and Omar Camarillo, all of Weslaco, brothers, Pedro De La Cruz of Weslaco, Eleazar Camarillo (Yolanda) of Weslaco, Juan Angel Camarillo (Delia) of La Villa, Santos Camarillo (Martina) of Edinburg, Jesse Camarillo (Eva) of Oklahoma, sisters, Natalia Romero of Longview, Gloria Camarillo of Weslaco, and Aurelia Fuentes (Rudy) of Houston, grandchildren, Sabrina (Guillermo), Eric, Eilleen, Alex, Destiny Alizey, Ariani, Yarelli, Cecilia, Brianna, David, Charlotte and Alma, great-grandchildren, Joe and Jessiah Javier. Visitation will be Friday, January 24th, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. On Saturday, January 25th, the family will leave McCaleb Funeral Home at 10:00 am for burial at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
