Margaret Craun

November 5, 1930 — May 3, 2021

WESLACO - Margaret (Maggie) Reeves Craun, 90, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at her apartment at John Knox Village, Weslaco, Texas. Margaret’s family convey deep gratitude for her caregivers and hospice team.
Margaret and her (deceased 2009) husband Jack Craun were born and lived their working lives in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Family time was spent on boating on the Great Lakes. They became Winter Texans (South Padre Island) in the 1990’s, moving permanently to Weslaco in 2009. Margaret was a mom and caregiver to elderly parents. She worked professionally as an ESL teacher. As a Texan she volunteered locally at the library and hospital.

Margaret was a faithful church attendee. She loved music, dance, sports, horses and nature; and to have fun: travel, play games, and go out to eat. Short car-rides in the nearby countryside toward the end of her life gave her joy. She was always happy to see or hear from family, interested in the world, and a great reader.

Margaret is survived by her daughter: Catherine C. Brush and husband Timothy of Edinburg, Texas. Son: John C. Craun and wife Janet P. of Indianapolis, Indiana. Grandchildren: Ashley Waring and husband Damon of Lexington, MA (sons Alden and Griffin), Zachary Craun and wife June of Brooklyn, NY (daughter Avery), Elizabeth E. De Jong and husband Gabriel of Little Rock, AR (sons Sylvan, Auburn, and Wendell), John S. and Laura S. Brush both of Edinburg. First Cousins William T. Reeves III (Sun City, AZ) and Julie Reeves Johnson (Northfield, IL).

Private Services will be held at a later date. Margaret will be interred with her husband Jack at St. Andrews-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church (Port Isabel) columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a memorial contribution to the Salvation Army or Grace Episcopal Church in Weslaco Texas.
