NORMAN CHESTER ANDERSON: BORN AUGUST 30, 1933, IN BONIFAY, FLORIDA. THE SON OF COY ALLEN ANDERSON AND ETHEL ARDELLA MEARS. NORMAN CHESTER "ANDY" ANDERSON PASSED AWAY ON MARCH 31, 2017, AT THE MEDICAL CENTER LOCATED IN JOHN KNOX VILLAGE, WESLACO, TEXAS. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS AND THREE BROTHERS. ANDY GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND JOINED THE AIR FORCE THE FALL OF 1951. HE RETIRED FROM THE AIR FORCE ON OCTOBER 1, 1971 WITH 20 YEARS OF SERVICE. HE WAS TRAINED AS AN AIR TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR AND CARGO AGENT FOREMAN. HE SPENT HIS LAST FOUR YEARS AS A RECRUITOR FOR THE AIR FORCE IN LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. ANDY RECEIVED HIS TRAINING AT SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS. HE WAS STATIONED IN PENNSYLVANIA; OKLAHOMA FOR TRAINING; WRIGHT PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE AT FAIRBORN, OHIO; NATO HEADQUATERS IN PARIS, FRANCE; AND LOS ANGELES AIR STATION, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. AFTER HE RETIRED, HE WORKED SEVERAL YEARS FOR CALIFORNIA EDISON AS A SECURITY GUARD, AND OWNER AND OPERATOR OF A CHRISTMAS TREE FARM IN LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA. ANDY AND KAY WERE GLOBAL TRAVELERS AS WELL AS RV'ERS. THEY HAD A HOME ON THE BEACH ABOUT THIRTY MILES FROM PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 58 YEARS, KAY; SON ANTHONY (CYNTHIA) ANDERSON; GRANDDAUGHTERS SIERRA AND MCKENNA ANDERSON; SISTER-IN-LAW LINDA ANDERSON; AND SPECIAL NIECE WILHELMINA (TED) MUELLER AND NEPHEW MARK ANDERSON ALONG WITH OTHER NIECES AND NEPHEWS. Funeral arrangements are under the care of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
