Paula Garza

Weslaco- Mrs. Paula Gonzalez Garza, 93, passed away at her home on Saturday morning, July 16, 2022.

Mrs. Garza was born on December 25, 1928, in Gomez-Palacio, Durango-Mexico. Paula married Santos Reyes Garza and they raised six children in Weslaco. She was an excellent homemaker. Paula loved to cook, some favorites were her tamales and other authentic Mexican meals. Paula also had a green thumb and spent countless hours caring for her garden. She was especially proud of her roses and they were always beautiful.

Most important to Paula was her faith. She was a devout Catholic and she attended mass every Sunday while she was still able to drive.

Mrs. Garza is preceded in death by her parents, Ismael and Francisca Gonzalez, sisters, Consuelo and Luz, daughters, Ana Maria, Francisca, Bertha, and Paulita, granddaughters Maria Eugenia and Anna Bertha, and her husband, Santos Reyes Garza.

She is survived by her sons, Guadalupe Tamez Jr. and Ruben Tamez, grandchildren, Rogelio, Gilberto, Josefina, Maria de Socorro, Jose Francisco, and Alejandro, many great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, Jul 22, 2022, from 5-9 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jul 23, 2022, at 10 am, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Weslaco followed by burial at Highland Memorial Park.
