Rock Riley

July 10, 1953 — June 15, 2020

Much-beloved chiropractor Rock Alan Riley, DC, aka “Dr. Rock,” passed from this world on Monday, June 15, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas. He was 66 years old.

Rock was born on July 10, 1953, in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, to Jack and Thelma Lou “Lou” Riley. His parents returned to their native Comanche, Texas when he was very young, and it was there that he had a happy and adventure-filled youth with his three younger brothers.

From a small child, Rock was known as a one-of-a-kind prankster and practical-joker. He always had a fake snake to scare those not expecting it on the golf course, and he loved to tell jokes to anyone who would listen. Rock was known during his time at Texas Chiropractic College for his outlandish fashions and his fun personality. He always stood out in a crowd and was the life of the party.

Rock moved to Weslaco, Texas, in his mid-forties because he loved the culture and the weather in the Rio Grande Valley. He wanted nothing more than to play golf year-round. It was in Weslaco, Texas, that he met his wife, Melanie, and they spent the next 18 years happy and together. It was also in Weslaco that he built a great chiropractic practice. All of Dr. Rock’s patients adored him and will miss him greatly.

Rock is survived by his wife, Melanie Riley, of Weslaco, Texas; his daughters, Hannah and Rachel Riley, of Dallas, Texas; his two granddaughters, Renie and Sage Riley, of Dallas, TX; his brothers, Randy (Susan) Riley, of Comanche, TX, Kevin (Debbie) Riley, of San Angelo, TX, and Kyle (Panna) Riley, of Comanche, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins who loved him dearly.

A memorial service will be held for Rock Riley on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at 11 am, at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas
