    Ruben F. Balderas

    June 20, 1961 - July 13, 2021

Weslaco- Ruben Balderas, 60, passed away on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville. Ruben was born on June 20, 1961, to Jose Balderas and Leonila Fuentes in Mexico. Ruben married Maria Elena Escamilla and they had one daughter, Lorena. They spent most of their years together in Weslaco, traveling to Mexico frequently to spend time with family. Ruben was a family guy, loved his granddaughter, and spoiled her every chance he got. He was a simple man, who enjoyed a good meal and a beautiful sunset. Most importantly, Ruben was a Christian man and a faithful member of his church, Templo Activando tu Fe, in Alamo. Ruben will be remembered for his contagious smile and the ability to make people laugh. He had a huge heart and was a dedicated Christian, husband, father, and grandfather. Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Leonila Balderas. He is survived by his wife, Maria Elena, daughter, Lorena Gomez (Ariel), and granddaughter, Arielle Gomez. Visitation will be held Friday, July 23rd, 5-9 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Saturday, July 24th, 10 am at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes. Those wanting to follow in the procession will need to arrive at McCaleb Funeral Home by 9 am.
