Viola Sauceda

April 23, 1944 — June 24, 2022

Austin/Weslaco- With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Viola Garza Sauceda, our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. She went to be with the
Lord on Friday, June 24, 2022. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her home in Austin, Texas. She was 78. Viola was born on April 23, 1944 in Weslaco to Graciano Garza and Socorro Gonzalez. She was a 1963 graduate of Weslaco High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Jose Tomas Sauceda
(Mercedes) on August 27, 1965.

Viola truly loved life and enjoyed helping others whenever she could. She was an active member of the Boys’ and Girls’ Club of Weslaco, Junior Service League (Weslaco), T-Mates (Camp Mabry,
Austin), and Guadalupanos (St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Austin). Viola treasured working with many students while working for various school districts in Pontiac (Michigan), Weslaco and Austin.

She lived a full and complete life and enjoyed chatting with friends and family, finding a good sale, and spending time with her grandchildren. Viola was a strong, hard-working, intelligent woman
always full of life, kindness, and love. She will be missed by all.

Viola is survived by her husband, Joe Sauceda; her daughter, Melissa Sauceda; her daughter-in-law, Edith Sauceda; her grandchildren, Angela Kantor (Josh); Daunte DeCello; Gianna DeCello; Sergio DeCello; Diego DeCello; Melissa Lyttle; Jake Lyttle; Jessica Lyttle Nutt (Michael); and Thomas Lyttle. She is
also survived by her sisters, Graciela Vasquez (Juan); Olga Alton; Josie Rodriguez (Reynaldo); and Cindy Teague (Jud). Viola leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation and celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 29th from 1-9 pm at Mc Caleb Funeral Home, Weslaco, Texas. Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 8 am on Thursday, June 30th. Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park following mass.
