Anna Taylor

August 27, 1976 — June 17, 2025

Anna Taylor, a beloved daughter, mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Weslaco, Texas, on June 17, 2025. She was 48 years old. Born on August 27, 1976, in Harlingen, Anna brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew her.

Anna grew up in Harlingen, where her vibrant personality and spirited nature quickly became evident. A proud graduate of Harlingen High School, she was a cheerleader for the Harlingen Cardinals—an early expression of the energy and enthusiasm she would carry into every chapter of her life.

With a deep passion for education and service, Anna built a meaningful career in school administration, working primarily in accounting departments across the Rio Grande Valley. Her journey began at Harlingen ISD and later included roles at Region One, Weslaco ISD, and Donna ISD. At the time of her passing, she was making a lasting impact as part of the accounting team at Mercedes Independent School District. Known for her integrity, reliability, and warmth, Anna was admired by colleagues and deeply valued by her community.

A lifelong learner, Anna earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from South Texas College and was actively pursuing her Master’s Degree. Her commitment to growth, both personal and professional, reflected her belief in the power of learning and her desire to uplift others through knowledge and hard work.

Those closest to Anna will remember her for her colorful personality, generous heart, and trademark wit. Whether offering one of her playful catchphrases—like “BHBH”—or lending a hand to someone in need, Anna was a steady source of love, laughter, and encouragement. She was unapologetically herself—fierce in her convictions, compassionate in her actions, and loyal to those she loved.

Anna lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed fitness, hunting, fishing, and beach trips—especially those spent with family and close friends. Her zest for life was contagious, and she had a gift for making memories that mattered.

In 2013, Anna met Randy Taylor, and their bond was instant. One of their first dates—a trip to the beach with Anna’s daughter, Sofie—set the tone for a relationship rooted in shared joy and deep connection. Married for ten years, Anna and Randy created a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful experiences. Together, they shared countless adventures, always with Sofie close by.

Of all her roles, Anna was most proud to be a mother. Her daughter, Sofie Elena Martinez, was the light of her life. Anna poured her heart into motherhood, nurturing with patience, guiding with wisdom, and loving with all she had. Her devotion was unmatched, and her presence will continue to shape Sofie’s life in countless ways.

Anna is survived by her devoted husband, Randall James Taylor; her cherished daughter, Sofie Elena Martinez; and her loving parents, Jose Angel and Maria Elena (Cortina) Leal. She also leaves behind her siblings: Jose Angel Leal Jr. (Rosie), Irma Leal, Irene Leal Hall, Arnulfo Leal (Nadia), Esmeralda “Esme” Montemayor (Michael), and Eliazar Leal (Lynda Rey); numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins, as well as her beloved dogs: Buffy, GiGi, and Dingo.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Anna’s life during visitation on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life and eulogy starting at 7:00 PM at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas. Anna Taylor leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. In the beautiful tapestry of life, Anna’s thread shines bright—a reminder of how deeply one life can bless so many others.
