Catheryn Ayers

d. March 2, 2022

HARLINGEN - Mrs. Catheryn Louise Ayers (Harris) died peacefully at her home in Harlingen, TX on March 2, 2022 at the age of 68. She is survived by her husband, John Thomas; daughters, Cristin Jones (husband Daniel Jones) of Chesapeake, VA and Robyn Josd (husband Jon Josd) and grandchildren Emily and Katie of Georgetown, TX; siblings, Marlin Curtis Harris Jr., Debra Jane Busby (husband Jay McBeth), and William Patrick Harris (wife Francine); and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Catheryn “Chatty Cathy” was born in Cameron, TX on July 30, 1953 to Marlin and Martha Harris. Growing up, she was highly involved in the Methodist church, enjoyed riding horses, and was active in her school community. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1971. After high school, she went on to attend Texas Tech University where she earned degrees in Child Development and Education and eventually became an elementary and middle school teacher in several areas. The majority of her teaching career was in Santa Rosa I.S.D. where her passion was teaching Art and Science. Cathy was a Texas girl at heart and lived all over the big state until she eventually settled in south Texas with her two daughters and husband. Throughout her life in the south, she enjoyed the beach at South Padre Island and shopping in Mexico. Cathy loved to tell stories, entertain family and friends with her cooking, and celebrate holidays. She enjoyed movies and music, especially anything Johnny Depp or The Beatles, and she loved the many pets she had over the years, including her parrot, Picasso. A breast cancer survivor, Cathy was a lovely and thoughtful woman who adored all things fashion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but the memory of her sassy southern charm will forever be cherished.
