Dale Sanders

July 17, 1953 — January 2, 2023

On January 2, 2023 Dale Sanders, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at home at the age of 69.

Dale was born on July 17, 1953 in Lake City, Minnesota to Eugene and Doretta (Ahlers) Sanders. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1971 and on August 21, 1971 he married his high school sweetheart Kathy Abraham. Dale worked at Federal Mogul in Lake City for 47 years and retired in 2019. Dale was diagnosed with Lupus in his 30’s and then in 2022 was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Through all the illness and pain, Dale hardly ever complained and he was happy and content with the simple things in life.

Dale and Kathy raised two children, Trent (Candy) Sanders, Kristi (Jamie) Schulz. Three grandchildren, Cooper and Chase Sanders, Khloee Schulz.

Surviving are his brothers, Edward (Shirley) Sanders; Roger (Lorie) Sanders of Lake City, Minnesota; Otto (Virginia) Sanders of Red Wing, Minnesota; and his sister Melody Johnson of Winona, Minnesota.

Dale shared his love for golf and bowling with his son Trent as they did many out of town bowling tournaments together like the Petersen Classic. Many fun memories were made with family snowmobiling on “The Hog” in Lake City and bar hopping along the way. Dale loved his dogs and was known by his family as the “bone holder” as he would hold a bone for 2 dogs to chew and always had a dog by his side.

In 2019, they sold their home and followed their dream and moved to Weslaco, Texas for warmer weather where he loved to play golf with his buddies. Dale's passion was antique cars and went on many car cruises with his AMX and friends. His infectious grin, easy going personality and laughter will be missed by family and friends. You will always be in our hearts Dale, forever.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father in law.

Private burial will be at a later date.
