Weslaco-Evangelina “Eva” Riojas Garza, 79, passed away on October 20, 2021, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas. Eva was born on January 18th, 1942 to Diego Riojas and Librada Cardona Riojas in Weslaco, Texas. Eva had six siblings, and they remained very close throughout their lives.
Eva worked at Knapp Medical Center as an environmental technician for over twenty-five years. She was a dedicated member of their team and made many lifelong friends during her tenure.
Eva loved her family, spending most of her free time with siblings, children, or grandchildren. Eva was a great cook but was famous for her potato salad which was unmatched. She also loved watching her novelas. Her favorite was Destilando Amor.
Eva was a devout Catholic. She modeled faith through her character. She was loving, caring, and selfless.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents, Diego and Librada Riojas, and her sister, Lydia R. Loya.
She is survived by her daughter, Gloria G. Ochoa of Weslaco, sons, Willie Guillermo Garza (Estrella) of Orlando, Gil Garza (Marlent) of Round Rock, and George Garza (Dawn) of Weslaco, sisters, Aurora R. Guzman (Esequiel+), Elvira R. Silva (Domingo+),Guadalupe R. Aguilar (Jesus+), brothers, Arturo C. Riojas (Viola+) and Ricardo C. Riojas (Olivia), grandchildren, Jonathan Garza, Adrian H. Ochoa, Allyson N. Ochoa, Emmanuel P. Flores, Andrew Garza, Evalyn Garza, Aralyn Garza, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Monday, October 25, 2021, from 9 am-9 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 26th, 10 am, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco, followed by burial at Weslaco City Cemetery.
