WESLACO

Weslaco/Effingham, Ill- Evelyn "Cindy" D. Frost, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, has peacefully passed away at Knapp Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Cindy was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 10th,1945, to Elmer and Evelyn D. (Hinz) Nichols. When Cindy was ten, the family moved to Dolton, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago). Shortly after that, Cindy met her soulmate, James Frost. It wasn't love at first sight, but the two teenagers fell in love about five years later. James and Cindy were married in 1965 and spent the rest of their lives together.

Cindy and James raised their two boys in the suburbs of Chicago. James worked for Ford Motor Company, and Cindy dedicated many years of her life to being a unit secretary at St. James Hospital before retiring in 2001. After James retired in 2004, they were able to enjoy traveling. Cindy has always loved the outdoors, so most of their travel involved some outdoor adventure. They enjoyed the Canadian Rockies and the Columbia River, among others. One of Cindy's favorite vacations was the Dominican Republic, where she and James celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. This particular trip was priceless, not only because James and Cindy also celebrated their 70th birthdays but also because their children and grandchildren were with them.

Cindy's love for the outdoors eventually led the couple to spend winters in the sunny Rio Grande Valley, settling at Trails End in Weslaco. Over the past fifteen years, they have made great memories with new friends.

In her leisure time, Cindy found joy in various hobbies and interests. She delighted in sewing and quilting, showcasing her creativity through beautiful creations. Additionally, she had a passion for bowling and golfing.

Throughout her life, Cindy was known for her caring and devoted personality. She exemplified unwavering love for her family. Cindy was always the biggest advocate for her children and grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the walls of her home to those she encountered through her work at the hospital.

Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Evelyn Nichols, and her sister, Tammy Cote.

She is survived by her loving husband and lifelong partner, James Frost; their sons, James Frost (Heather) and David Frost (Kristine); her siblings, Glynda Burk (Richard "Rick") and Keith Nichols (Karen); brother-in-law Dennis Cote (Tammy's widower); grandchildren Jaime, Hayley, Peyton, Allyssa, and Ryan Frost; and numerous nieces and nephews.
