Jesus Arturo Montelongo

February 5, 1964 — September 3, 2019

Weslaco- Jesus “Arturo” Montelongo, 55, entered in the Heavenly Kingdom of Christ on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 after a brief illness.

He was born on February 5th, 1964 in Mexico to Pedro Cantú Montelongo and Florestela Luna Rodriguez.

Arturo was the eighth born of ten siblings. He grew up in Mexico, where he attended school and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Arturo grew up in a family of strong faith, and he thrived in that environment. It seemed only fitting that he would meet his soulmate, Mary Banda, at his church in Mexico. They spent the next couple of years getting to know each other, and in 1989 Arturo and Mary were married. Arturo moved to the United States, and he and Mary raised their family in Donna, then moved to Weslaco in 2003.

Arturo and Mary were blessed with two children, Arturo and Eddna. Arturo worked as an accountant, spending the last fifteen years at Rio Grande Steel in Pharr. Arturo loved to be outdoors and spent a lot of time gardening and enjoying the natural beauty of God’s brilliant work. He was a hard worker and a great provider. Arturo always had a project going and didn’t believe in idle time. Whether he was building a home, working on their apartments, or helping a family in need, he lived life to the fullest.

Arturo was a model husband and father, but he will mostly be remembered by his love and faithfulness to Jesus Christ. He was a passionate Christian and lived his life as an example to all who knew him. He was humble, loving, caring, and devoted to his Lord and Savior, and his life choices were always made with Christ as his compass. The rest just seemed to fall into place.

Arturo is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Florestela Montelongo, sisters, Elida and Elia Montelongo.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Maria Montelongo, son, Arturo Montelongo, daughter, Eddna Montelongo, siblings, Roberto Montelongo of Saltillo, Mexico, Dora Estella Montelongo of Houston, Ramiro and Irma Otila Montelongo of Monterrey, Mexico, Sonia Leticia Montelongo of Reynosa, Mexico, Pedro Raúl Montelongo of Houston, and Héctor Montelongo of Alamo, sisters in law, Janie Banda, Martha Alvarado, Sara Jimenez, all of Weslaco, brothers in law, Frank Banda and Eliud Banda of Weslaco, and Daniel Banda of Donna, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will continue Saturday, September 7th, from 10am-2pm. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2 pm, at McCaleb Funeral Home chapel.
