Larry Eugene Couch

Larry Eugene Couch, 57, of Weslaco, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024, following a brief battle with cancer.  

He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on September 30, 1966.  At a young age, his family moved to Houston, Texas, where he attended McArthur High School.

He enlisted in the United States Army in 1985. He was stationed in Germany from 1987 to 1989, and his primary specialty was combat signaling. He was in a field Artillery Unit that was part of the “Nijmegen” marching team, which competed in Amsterdam and won the 100 miles in a four-day competition, receiving the Army Achievement Medal and the Presidential Fitness Medal. 

He furthered his education by attending the Ocean Corporation in Houston and began a career in Industrial Radiography, performing inspections on gas pipeline welds.  He previously worked for Mistras Group across Texas, North Carolina, and South Carolina. He currently works out of North Dakota for Superior Integrity Services. His work ethic and dedication were unmatched, and he was always there when needed.  

He was an avid football fan, and his favorite football team was the Houston Texans. He could tell you almost anything about any player on any team and their future in football.  His favorite baseball team was the Cincinnati Reds. 

Larry touched the hearts of everyone he met.  His patience, kindness, and generosity knew no bounds.  His proudest accomplishment was his baby girls; they meant the world to him.  In 2016, he moved to Weslaco to be with and spent the best years of his life with his wife, Barbara, by his side. He was a wonderful husband, father, Pappy, son, brother, uncle, and friend and will be greatly missed. 

Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara of Weslaco, Texas; children: Chaney (Justin) Reinshuttle of Katy, Texas, Bailey Robinson of Waller, Texas, Emry (Marty) Robinson of Chapel Hill, Texas, Chase Riviera of Weslaco, Texas and Cameron Riviera of Weslaco, Texas; and six grandchildren: Landin Lore, Paislee Hilbun, Joseph Reinshuttle, Dakota Reinshuttle, Reagan Reinshuttle, and Kaeli Riviera; Mother, Icey Bowling of Mississippi;  and sisters, Laura (Butch) Setser of Mississippi, and Debbie (Shannon) Dempsey of Moss Hill, Texas; brother in Life, Gerry (Zonia) Gonzalez and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. 

Larry is preceded in death by Uncle Johnny Bowling, Aunt Mable Kay, Brother-in-Law Terry Mayon, and Father-in-Law Johnny Mize.
