Lucille Mutz

November 9, 1917 — May 5, 2014

Donna- Lucille (Lucy) Mutz, 96, entered into her eternal resting place early Monday, May 5, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 9, 1917 in La Fourche Parrish, LA. They lived in Raymondville for 20 years before moving to Donna, TX in 1959. She soon began working for D.I.S.D. as a food supervisor. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard Mutz; her father, Septine Champagne; her mother, Estella Bourgeois; stepfather, Adolf Faulk; and one son, Eugene Mutz.
Lucille is survived by her 3 daughters, Barbara Chappell of Raymondville, TX, Norma Kelly of Donna and Sandra (J.L.) Ivey of Donna; 2 sons, Harvey (Minnie) Mutz of Mission and Gary (Rita) Mutz of Mission; and one sister, Dolly White (Curtis) of Uvalde, TX. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Lucy, as she was known by her friends and “Toot” by her family, was a “people person, who never met a stranger.” The family would like to thank her caregivers, Nora and Lali for their services. A special thanks to Dr. Volpe for her care for our Mother for many years.
As per her request, the following poem was sealed in an envelope and was to be opened by her family at the time of her passing: “We think of you in silence, make no outward show, but what it meant to lose you no will ever know. To some you are forgotten, to others a part of the past, but to us who loved you dearly, your memories will always last. Your life was one of kindly deeds, helping others with their needs. Sincere in truth, heart and mind, we’ll cherish the memories you left behind.”
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 5pm to 7pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. A graveside service will be held today, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 2pm at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Officiating the service will be Pastor Chris O’Loughlin of Cowboy Church of Santa Rosa.
