Marcelina "Marcie" R. Guardiola

January 14, 1945 — May 23, 2014

Weslaco- Marcelina “Marcie” R. Guardiola went peacefully with our Lord on May 23, 2014 at 1:45 pm at her residence, surrounded by her children and friends. She was born on January 14, 1945 in Weslaco, TX. to Jesus and Nieves Avalos Rodriguez.

She is survived by her husband, Gilberto M. Guardiola Sr.; six children: Frances G. (Lupe Jr. ) Caballero of Pharr TX, Deacon Gilberto (Nora) Guardiola Jr. of Weslaco, TX, Mary Lou (Jose R.) De Luna Jr. of Opelousas, LA., Gloria Herrera of Weslaco, TX., Joe R. (Irma) Guardiola of San Antonio, TX., Christina (Victor) Cantu, of Laredo TX; 15 grandchildren, Juan S., Kevin L., Levon J., and Justin G. Pacheco, Gilberto “Trey” Guardiola III, Alexandria, Kristina “Nicky”, and Jose Jesus “J.J.” G. De Luna, Kimberly, Kasey A. and Kristian K. Herrera, Alyssa and Amanda Guardiola, Christopher and Christian Cantu; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are her sisters, Rosa Garcia, Delores Davis, Petra Cardosa, all of TX, Francis Niño, Stella Carrasco, Susie Arriaga; and her brothers: Roberto Rodriguez, Juan Rodriguez, all of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Rachel Estrada of San Antonio TX and brothers, Jesus Jr., and Narciso “Ciso” Rodriguez, both of Fremont Ohio.

The Guardiola family is very thankful and appreciative and gives special thanks to various families, friends, neighbors, priests, ministries/parochial communities for all the prayer intentions and for the many hours of loving care she received during her life. Also thankful for the outstanding job by, P.A.C.E., Home Health Care, Inc of Weslaco, TX and her own personal provider, Elizabeth Garcia for her outstanding service to our mother in her time of need and her hospice nurse, Josh with GENTIVE Hospice of Harlingen, TX.

Revelation 14:13. And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a rosary @ 7:00 pm and Monday, May 26, 2014 from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, with a rosary at 7:00 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 109 South Illinois Avenue in Weslaco. Officiating the Mass will be Fr. Jean Olivier M. Sambu.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Juan S., Kevin, Levon, & Justin Pacheco, Gilberto “Trey” Guardiola III, and Jose Jesus “JJ” De Luna.
Arrangements are under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco.
