Maria Elena Casas, 37, of Angleton, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, in Galveston, Texas, at Jennie Sealy Hospital. Maria Elena was born July 19, 1983 to Marcelino Casas Jr. and Sofia S. Villarreal in Brenham, Texas. Maria Elena worked for Cypress Wood Care Center as a dietary aide for fourteen years. Maria enjoyed spending time with her friends, barbecuing, or floating down the river on a hot summer day. She had a heart of gold and a positive attitude. Maria was a devout Catholic and a true friend to all who had the opportunity to get to know her.
Maria was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Baldemar Silva and Maria Guillen Silva, paternal grandfather Marcelino Casas Sr., father, Marcelino Casas Jr, aunts Gloria Silva, Elvira S. Goode, Melva Casas, and cousin, Michael Gonzalez.
Survivors include her maternal grandmother, Argelia Casas, mother Sofia Villarreal (Julian), sisters, Veronica Hernandez (Jose), Viviana Escamilla (Jonas), Victoria L. Casas, brother Marcelino Casas III, nieces, Rachel M. Smith, Rosalinda Cruz, Keyona R. Casas, Mariah L. Casas, Kylie M. Escamilla, Emmalee R. Silguero and A'Mauriah R. Campbell, nephews Isaiah E. Casas, Armando R. Silguero Jr, Steven R. Quiroga, Jonas Escamilla Jr, Robert E. Johnson Jr, Ralen L. Johnson, Draedyn Campbell, Noah Campbell, uncles Juan M. Silva, Andres Silva, Roy Silva, Joel Casas, Robert Casas (Rina), and Daniel Moreno (Terri), aunts Mary Rubio, Dolores Silva, San Juanita Salinas, Angelica M. Silva, Marcia Casas, Blanca Palomares (Juan), Melissa Casas, and numerous cousins.
The funeral mass is scheduled for 9:30 am on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 13, 2021, from 4 pm for family and 5 pm - 7 pm to the public at Palms Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Marcelino Casas III, Isaiah E. Casas, Armando R. Silguero Jr, Pedro A. Silva, Roy Silva Jr. and Miguel A. Narvaez. Honorary Pallbearer will be Luis A. Salinas, Steven R. Quiroga and Victor Silva.
