Maria Dolores Fuentes

April 7, 1933 — August 6, 2023

Weslaco

Weslaco- Maria Dolores Reyes Fuentes (Lola) 90, entered eternal rest on August 6, 2023.

She was born April 7, 1933, to Catarino Reyes+ and Juana Hernandez+ in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She was the 2nd of 6 children.

Lola married Ramon Fuentes, and they had eight children. Together they raised their children in the city of Weslaco. In their early years they were a family of migrant workers who worked in various states throughout the northern part of the United States. When not working in the fields up north, she dedicated her life to raising her children and being a housewife to her husband. When time allowed, she helped her husband in his business by making final preparations for homes that he built.

She worked for Texana Pickle Producers, Inc. from 1985 to 2000 where she worked as a sorter of produce. Throughout her tenure at the plant, she became well loved and respected among her peers. Dolores was offered a supervisory role at Texana, which she gladly accepted and excelled in.

When Lola was not working you would find her at home, engulfed in her passion, her yard. She loved to work in her yard, always beautifying her home. She took pride in her plants, on weekends between her projects you would often find her at a local lawn and garden store purchasing plants. Lola’s second passion was sewing. She loved to sew, she sewed most of her clothes and that of her children and grandchildren too. Her two favorite stores were lawn and garden and fabric stores. Her daughter’s all learned how to sew just like their mother.

Lola is survived by her children Juana Hernandez, Lupe Mares, Ramon Fuentes Jr, and Martin Fuentes, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Lucia Rodriguez and Agustin Torres.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ramon Fuentes Sr., her children, David Fuentes, Gerardo Fuentes, Roberto Fuentes, Lillia Fuentes, and grandson Ramon Fuentes III, siblings, Silveria Sambrano, Luis Reyes, and Enrique Reyes, niece Olga Sambrano.

Pallbearers for Dolores Fuentes are David Jeremy Fuentes, Aaron Fuentes, Roy Fuentes, Michael Fuentes, Juan Carlos Mares, and Daniel Mares.
