Marietta Bryhan

April 5, 1919 — January 17, 2014

Weslaco- Marietta Bryhan, 94, passed away January 17, 2014 at John Knox Village in Weslaco. She was born in Kemp, TX on April 5, 1919, the daughter of Raymond and Lottie Bell McNairy.
She married Dale Bryhan on January 25, 1975. She spent parts of her life in Corpus Christi, TX, Beaumont, TX and New Orleans, LA and she most enjoyed the gulf coast. In 2003, she moved to Weslaco to be closer to her family. Throughout her active life, she was a member of Chapter BW PEO, the Weslaco Museum Board, the McKinney, TX Museum Board and Delta Literary. Marietta was a loving and caring woman. She will be missed by those who loved and knew her.
The family wishes to thank the staff at John Knox Village Medical Center for all the loving care they bestowed upon our mother.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Bryhan; a brother, Raymond McNairy Jr.; and son-in-law, John Sturgis.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Marilew Sturgis; grandsons, James (Gloria) Sturgis and Joshua Sturgis; and a great granddaughter, Shelby Sturgis.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2:00 pm at John Knox Village Chapel in Weslaco, with Pastor Howard Bloomquist officiating. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made in Marietta’s name to the PEO Scholarship Fund at PEO Executive Office, Treasuries Dept. Scholarship Fund, 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50312.
