Nancy Susannah Miller

December 10, 1940 — November 27, 2022

Weslaco/Harlingen- Nancy Susannah Miller (Nuchols) passed away on November 27, 2022. Nancy was born on December 10, 1940, in Santa Rosa, Texas, to James Nuchols and Francis Sue Nuchols (Scott). She grew up on the family citrus farm with 3 brothers, Tom, John, and Bob, and a sister, Sara Cay.

She met Charles E. Miller on a blind date and married him on October 10, 1959. They raised two sons, Raymond and Steven, on their family farm in Weslaco, Texas.

She was active in her church, teaching Sunday school, and serving on committees and boards. She was even a Cub Scout leader. In addition to church and civic activities, she was critical to the farm’s success. Cooking for and cleaning up after her family was enough to keep anyone busy, but she also did the farm bookkeeping and was always available for a tractor parts run. During harvest, she cooked and delivered lunches to the family. She brought food for the whole harvest crew of 10-15 people at supper time and then got ready to do it again the next day.

Not having any daughters, she loved her 18 nieces. In later years, she especially enjoyed her three granddaughters, Megan Miller Tabb, Sarah Miller, and Allison Miller. She also loved her nine nephews, being fond of little boys as well as little girls.

Nancy Susannah was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Sue, father, Jimmy, sister, Sara Cay, and her husband, Charles. She is survived by her sons, daughters-in-law. and granddaughters: Steven, Becky, and Allison, Raymond, Laura, Sarah, and Megan, and her husband Robert; and by her brothers: Tom and his wife Galand, John and his wife Lavonia, and Bob, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
