Born on February 12, 1945 in Parra Coahuila, Mexico to Apolonio Plata and Josefina Contreras, Nohemi Tamez, age 78, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at her residence in Donna, Texas.

Nohemi led a life dedicated to her family and faith. She was a truly remarkable woman, filled with boundless love, extraordinary care, and infinite patience. Her presence had an indescribable warmth that left an enduring mark on the lives of all who were privileged to know her. The passing of Nohemi leaves an irreplaceable void, one that will be felt by everyone who had the honor of crossing paths with her.

Nohemi was a devoted church treasurer for Iglesia Del Dios Vivo in Weslaco and also found joy as the lead singer of their ladies church choir. Nohemi's remarkable voice could be heard during every worship service with songs filled with devotion and praise. Her soulful performance uplifted the spirits of those around her while instilling faith and love in their hearts.

When Nohemi wasn't gracing the congregations with her angelic serenades, she found joy in cooking. Her passion brought people together, her dishes not just satisfying the stomach but also the heart. Nohemi was an extraordinary cook who welcomed everyone with open arms, finding joy in sharing her meals as an extension of her boundless love and care for those around her.

Family was everything to Nohemi. She cherished every moment spent with her beloved husband Jose Tamez, who was truly her soul mate. They shared an unbreakable bond filled with love, respect, laughter and joy. Together, they enjoyed the beauty of farm life as they tended to pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and other animals.

Nurturing bonds within her family was at the core of Nohemi's life purpose. She embraced each moment spent with loved ones as an opportunity to create beautiful memories. Whether it was the joy of embroidery or singing, Nohemi found happiness in gardening.  She was an avid gardener, delighting in the beauty and tranquility that flowers and plants brought to her surroundings. Nohemi had a green thumb and spent countless hours nurturing her garden, ensuring that each plant thrived and bloomed under her care. Her gardens were a reflection of her vibrant spirit.

Nohemi was preceded in death by her loving parents, Apolonio Plata and Josefina Contreras, as well as her soulmate spouse Jose Tamez, beloved son Noe Tamez, sister Cristina Rocha, and grandchildren Jose Antonio Castillo and Moises Tamez.
