WESLACO - Prajedez "Pete" Pedraza Jr., a beloved member of the Weslaco community, passed away on December 19th, 2023, at McAllen Medical Center. Born September 14th, 1934, in San Benito, Texas, Pete led a remarkable life filled with achievements and cherished moments with his family and friends. Pete's family, ten children, and his parents moved to Corpus, where Pete spent most of his teenage and early adult years.

Pete's journey began when he joined the United States Marine Corps at the young age of 17. He displayed tremendous dedication and bravery during his service in Korea for 14 months. After three years, he was honorably discharged. His military service was an integral part of his identity, shaping his values of loyalty and commitment.

Following his military service, Pete returned to Corpus Christi, where he married his soulmate, Grace Cavazos, in 1954. That same year, he also started a career at BF Goodrich. Pete's drive and determination quickly earned him several promotions. In 1968, he and his family relocated to Weslaco to manage the BF Goodrich in Weslaco. 1976, Pete bought out BF Goodrich, which became Mid Valley Tire. Pete's exceptional customer service, attention to detail, and dedication were a recipe for success. In no time at all, Mid Valley Tire became a favorite tire shop among the locals.

Proudly supporting his community was one of Pete's most significant accomplishments. He served on the Noon Lion's Club and contributed significantly to its mission of helping those in need. Additionally, he was an active member of VFW8564, demonstrating his unwavering support for fellow veterans.

Beyond his professional achievements and community involvement, Pete cherished spending quality time with his loved ones. His caring and fun-loving nature drew people towards him. Pete always had a hearty laugh, ready to brighten up any room he entered. His devotion to both his community and family was unwavering.

In his leisure time, Pete enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He was a passionate fan, experiencing highs and lows alongside fellow admirers. Barbecuing was another activity that brought him immense joy. Over 30 summers, he and his beloved wife, Grace Pedraza, spent cherished moments at Isla Blanca Park, creating lasting memories together.

Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Prajedez Sr. and Lina (Mata) Pedraza and his siblings, Gonzalo, Francisco, Roberto, Pedro, Beatrice, Juanita, Aurora, Delia, and Estela.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Grace; his sons, Orlando "Mickey" Pedraza and Rolando Pedraza (Nora); his granddaughters, Heather, Briana, and Sarah Durham (Blaise); and numerous nieces and nephews.
