Richard "Pete" Marshall

December 21, 1952 — November 22, 2023

DONNA

Donna- Richard "Pete" Marshall passed away peacefully, with his beloved wife at his bedside, on November 22, 2023, at University Hospital in San Antonio. He fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 21, 1952, in Weslaco, and his life was a celebration of joy, friendship, and love.

Outside of work, Pete lived life to the fullest. He cherished spending time with his beloved family and friends. Whether cracking open a cold one or cheering for his favorite football team, Pete knew how to create memorable moments filled with laughter and joy. He had a unique ability to unite people and make them feel welcome.

One of Pete's greatest passions was the beach. The shores of South Padre Island held a special place in his heart. Whenever he had the chance, he would retreat there to enjoy the sand between his toes and the sound of crashing waves. Pete found solace in the beauty of nature and embraced life's simple pleasures.

Pete faced various health challenges throughout his journey with incredible strength and resilience. Despite his difficulties, he never lost his sense of humor or his love for life. Even when circumstances prevented him from cracking open a cold one as often as he would have liked, Pete enjoyed watching football games with unwavering enthusiasm.

Pete's infectious laughter will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warm personality drew people in, creating a lighthearted atmosphere of laughter. He had a way of brightening up any room he entered and making everyone feel at ease.

Pete wouldn't want us to be sad; he stated many times that he lived a long, happy life and was ready for when it was his time. Instead, he'd like all of us to crack open a cold one, eat a good meal, and watch some football.

In this time of mourning, let us remember the laughter and fond memories that Pete shared with us. He lived his life to the fullest and left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. As we say goodbye to our beloved friend, let us celebrate the beautiful legacy he leaves behind. Pete may no longer be with us physically, but his spirit will forever live in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.

Pete is preceded in death by his father, Richard "Dick" Marshall, and stepson, Jason Watkins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Marshall, who stood by his side throughout his journey; his mom,  Betty Sue Marshall; sons, Michael Marshall (Jami) and HR Watkins; his sister, Kristy Johnson (Brad); brother, Mike Marshall ( Katie) grandchildren, Garrett Marshall, Colton Marshall, Peightyn Marshall, CK Watkins (Diego Bernal), great-grandchildren, Luke Bernal and Liam Bernal.
