Roberto Castillo

Mercedes- Roberto Castillo Sr., a beloved truck driver and cherished family man, passed away on April 28, 2025, at DHR Edinburg at the age of 73. Born on June 14, 1951, in Edcouch, Texas, Roberto filled his life with joy and laughter, leaving a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Roberto was proud to serve as a Vietnam Veteran, embodying a spirit of commitment that would carry through both his military service and his professional life as a truck driver. His cheerful and outgoing personality endeared him to friends, family, and those he met along the way.

Beyond his career, Roberto found happiness in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid fisherman, often spending time casting lines and reeling in the catch of the day. Music held a special place in his heart; he enjoyed playing his guitar and listening to various tunes. In later years, Roberto discovered a new passion for playing chalupa at the adult daycare, where he connected with others in a fun and engaging atmosphere.

One of Roberto's proudest accomplishments was the time he spent with his family. He valued these moments deeply, understanding that the bonds of love and support among family were what truly mattered in life. Cookouts and watching tv with his children and grandchildren were his most cherished times.

Roberto is preceded in death by his parents, Reymundo Castillo and Carmen Monterubio. He is survived by his children, Roberto Castillo Jr., Rodolfo Castillo (Cynthia), Rogelio Castillo, Rebecca Castillo, Rachel Castillo, Rene Castillo, and Cathy Gonzalez (Mario), as well as twenty-seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews
