Sulema Q. Rodriguez

November 2, 1943 — November 29, 2023

Weslaco

Weslaco: Sulema Rodriguez, a hard worker and dedicated mom, passed away on November 29, 2023, at McAllen Medical Center. Born on November 2, 1943, in Weslaco, TX, to Francisco and Santos Quesada, she lived a remarkable life filled with love, perseverance, and numerous accomplishments.

Throughout her career as a nurse, Sulema touched the lives of countless patients with her compassionate care. Her dedication to improving the well-being of others was evident in the way she carried out her responsibilities each day. Sulema served the Weslaco community for many years at Knapp Medical Center.

However, Sulema's accomplishments extended far beyond the medical field. An enterprising spirit led her to become a successful entrepreneur as she opened a flower shop in the family nursery at the Farmers Market in Dallas. She enlisted her sons and daughter to help, and together, they created beautiful floral arrangements that captivated customers and brightened their days. Sulema's creativity blossomed through this venture as she expertly crafted stunning displays that showcased nature's beauty.

Apart from her professional endeavors, Sulema had many hobbies and interests. She possessed an inherent talent for various crafts and could transform ordinary materials into extraordinary creations. Sewing was one of her passions, and, luckily for her daughter, she had a remarkable ability to replicate designer clothing with superior quality at a fraction of the cost.

Sulema's character can best be described as feisty, strong-willed, loving, and caring. She embodied the essence of selflessness by adhering to the philosophy that giving is better than receiving. Known for showering loved ones with thoughtful gifts while rarely indulging herself, Sulema exemplified generosity in all aspects of life.

Those fortunate enough to know Sulema will cherish fond memories of her tremendous cooking skills. Her home-cooked meals brought people together. Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying each other's company, Sulema infused every meal with love and joy.

Sulema's proudest accomplishment by far was her family. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing her loved ones, ensuring they felt cherished and supported. Her children were fortunate to witness firsthand the strength and resilience she possessed, deeply inspiring them as they journeyed through life. Rarely raising her voice and keeping neutral in family disputes, Sulema's personality cultivated love, joy, and unity.

Sulema is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Santos Quesada, her husband, Enrique Rodriguez Sr., and her sons, Adrian Rodriguez and Danny Rodriguez.

She is survived by her siblings Frank Quesada, Englantina Elizondo, Delfina Ramirez, and Enedelia Campos. Her children Enrique Rodriguez Jr. (Carmen), Ismael Rodriguez, Dalila Selina Treviño (Eliseo), David Raul Rodriguez (Ashley). Her grandchildren Enrique Rodriguez III (Kassie), Domingo Rodriguez (Lori), Amanda Rodriguez, Ismael Rodriguez Jr., Victor Adrian Rodriguez, Ray Alonzo Rodriguez, Angelique Treviño, Sabrina Treviño(Renny), Eliseo Treviño Jr., Cristina Selina Treviño, Lauren Garcia (Adan), Daniel Rodriguez Jr., Danielle Rodriguez, and Danee Rodriguez.
