Weslaco- Jose G. Treviño Sr., 92, passed away on Friday, February 8th, 2019 at his home. He was born on December 7, 1926, to Amador Treviño and Maria de los Angeles De Leon in Hualahuises, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He attended school in Mexico and was raised there along with his nine siblings. When Jose was a young man he migrated to the United States and settled in Weslaco. It was here that he met his bride, Maria Trevino. They were married on February 1, 1956 and spent the next sixty-three years together.
Jose and Maria raised six children together. They both worked very hard. Jose worked in landscaping and agriculture. He grafted many Rio Red grapefruits at countless orchards in the mid-valley. He was a talented landscaper and much of what he knew was experience, but he was also given a gift from God as a natural "green thumb". Jose and Maria would migrate all over the United States every year. They traveled the country with their children, working in California, Oregon, Washington State, Minnesota, to name a few. The children treasure the memories of those road trips because they were afforded an opportunity that few are able to attain, to see much of the United States as young children and the beauty that our country has to offer.
When Jose was not migrating, he worked many years for Southern Nurseries and the Bence family until his retirement. Although he worked tirelessly to support his family, he thoroughly enjoyed his living. He loved landscaping, working in the yard, gardening and planting. Most everything Jose planted flourished into a beautiful masterpiece. He also enjoyed playing the lottery from time to time and often bragged that he was going to hit it big.
Jose did hit it big. He raised a beautiful family whom he adored. His favorite pastime of all was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Amador and Maria de los Angeles Treviño, siblings, Manuel Treviño De Leon, Tomas Treviño De Leon, Ramiro Treviño De Leon, Florencia Treviño De Leon, and son-in-law, Francisco Flores.

Treviño Jr., Dalia Valladares (Martin), Corina Flores, and Ramiro Treviño (Laura), all of Weslaco, siblings, Alicia Treviño De Leon de Peña, Angelica Treviño De Leon, San Juanita Treviño De Leon, Guillermina Treviño de Lopez, and Margarita Treviño de Basaldua, grandchildren, Mary Curiel (Edgar), Nicolas Ramirez Jr., Sandra Magaña (Juan), Leo Ramirez (Nellie+), Salvador Ramirez, Monica Ramirez, Allysa Pubillones (Luis), Erica Mata (David), Juan Treviño Jr., Martin Valladares Jr. (Maria), Joel Valladares (Alicia), Laura Flores, Monica Flores, Vanessa Flores, Ramiro A Treviño, Jose A Treviño, Analaura Treviño, Eduardo Treviño, and Leonardo Treviño, great-grandchildren, Jacob Pubillones, Lauren, Sophia, and Ava Mata, Aliyah and Troy Curiel, Isabella, Elijah and Kyle Ramirez, Juan Jr., Jimena, and Christian Magaña , Liah, Dominique, and Levi Ramirez, Olivia F.
