Alena Lavaughn Hood's Obituary
Kerrville- Alena Lavaughn Hood, 91, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at a Kerrville nursing home. She was born on October 4, 1922 to parents Frances Lee Stevens and Mattie Anna Stevens in Weeks, Scott County, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William E. Hood, her parents and threebrothers, Lee Ray, Glenn and Robert. She is survived by a sister, Francis Muriel Clearman, of St. Stephens, South Carolina. She is also survived by daughters, Dorothy Lavaughn Buchen (David) and Betty Ann Barron. Other survivors are grandchildren, William Mark Dudley (Doris), Matthew Brian Dudley (Lisa), Jeffrey Ferell Barron (Robin), Kevin Scott Barron (Pam), and Jennifer Lyn Muniz (Joey) and fourteen great-grandchildren.Lavaughn spent several years in Donna and Edcouch-Elsa, Texas as a girl scout and brownie leader. She was also the treasurer for the First Baptist Church of Edcouch for many years. After raising her family, she went to work for Elsa State Bank & Trust where she worked until she retired. For those who so desire, you may make memorial contributions in her memory to The National Kidney Foundation. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at McCaleb Funeral Home, 900 W. 4th St. in Weslaco, Texas.Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Highland Memorial Park, 6705 North FM 88, Weslaco, Texas with Rev.
