Weslaco: Ana Maria Flores, 73, passed away suddenly at her home in Weslaco on Monday, April 18, 2022. On July 12, 1948, Ana was born to Andres and Marianna (Olvera) Bocanegra in McAllen, Texas.
Ana left high school and received her beautician's license so she could start earning an income. Ana went to work for Mr. Alfred's Beauty Shop in McAllen, a fitting career for Ana's natural bubbly and outgoing personality. Later, while working at Valley Grande Manor as a full-time beautician during the daytime, Ana earned her GED by attending night classes at Weslaco Highschool. Ana worked as a teacher aide for WISD for a short period of her life. She then went to work at Burton Auto in the service parts warehouse for over fifteen years. Finally, Ana decided to change careers and took her last job working in the custodial department at Knapp Medical Center. She retired from Knapp after serving over fifteen years.
Ana loved football and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. She also loved Betty Boop and Peacocks. Ana could entertain herself for hours by playing games on her phone, but if there was an opportunity to barbecue, listen to Tejano music, dance, and sing karaoke, Ana was even happier. Ana had a green thumb and treated her plants with love and care, just like everyone else. Ana was selfless, always putting others' needs before her own. She loved spending time with her precious grandchildren and spoiled them with affection.
Above all, Ana loved God. She was a devout Catholic and gained strength and fortitude from her faith. Prayer was Ana's answer for everything.
Ana is preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Mariana Bocanegra, brothers, Hilario Bocanegra and Andres Bocanegra Jr., sister, Haydee Y. Herrera, sons in law, Roberto Infante and Orlando Palomares.
Ana is survived by her children, Velma Infante (Robert+), Ricardo DeLeon (Kim), and Ana L. Palomares (Orlando+), eight grandchildren, Ashley Rodriguez, Amanda M. Rodriguez, Andrew R. Infante, Irene Infante, Gabriel C. Infante, Jacob De Leon (Jessica), Ricardo De Leon Jr. (Alyza), and Ana N.
