Adela Cerda
My aunt who was the only one in the family that really knew me and my brother (aside from my father) as a toddler, passed on my birthday and I did not learn about her death until a year later. We always exchanged Christmas cards and when I did not get one this past year I knew something was wrong. Like Ms Tokarz, my aunt and uncle shared photos of me when I was a child. She saved those photos from the trash after my grandparents dies and I am so grateful to her. Thanks to her I have one photo of me when I was about 5 or 6 and a wedding photo of my parents. She still hung on to the photos and I was hoping to be able to have copies made some day. That day never came. I miss her greatly and now my uncle whom I remember sneaking ice-cream to me and my brother because our grandparents, who were raising us, never allowed us to have sweets.
