Artemio Alvarado's Obituary
Pharr – Artemio Alvarado, 66, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Mission Valley Nursing and Transitional Care. He was born on June 11, 1959, in Monterrey, Mexico, to Juan and Juanita (Garza) Alvarado, the youngest of five children.
Although Artemio did not have a formal education, he possessed a natural intelligence and a remarkable talent for craftsmanship. He discovered an early love for carpentry and eventually became a professional carpenter. As his trade demanded, Artemio was detail-oriented, skilled in woodworking and construction, physically strong, mathematically inclined, and highly efficient with his time. He was driven to excel in everything he did—a perfectionist who constantly sought to learn, improve, and master new skills.
Artemio passed down this work ethic to his children, grandchildren, nephews, and nieces, teaching them: whatever you do, be the best—strive for excellence. And he lived those words every day.
Carpentry was not just a career for Artemio; it was also his hobby and passion. He always had projects in the works and took great pride in each one. Outside of work, he enjoyed cookouts with family and friends, listening to music, hunting, relaxing at the beach, and unwinding with classic western television shows.
Artemio was a devoted husband and father, a fun and loving grandpa, and a deeply responsible man. He was a Christian who loved the Lord, and his faith shaped the way he lived and cared for his family.
Artemio is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Juanita Alvarado, his son, Artemio Alvarado Jr., and his siblings, Antonio Alvarado and Angela Rojas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Ester Gonzalez Alvarado; his daughter, Isabel Alvarado; his step-daughter, Lesley Gonzalez; his siblings, Abel Alvarado, Rafael Alvarado, Rafael Alvarado, and Aurora Alvarado, his grandchildren, Rhianna Lynette Renolla, Robert Anthony Garza Jr., and Ryan Andrew Garza; his great-grandchildren, Ysabella Loren Garza Martinez and Ellis Raine Renolla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 10 am-9 pm and Monday, November 24, 2025, beginning at 8 am, with a celebration of life at 2 pm. Artemio will be laid to rest at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
