Florentino DeLeon Jr.'s Obituary
Florentino DeLeon Jr., known lovingly as "APA" by his grandchildren, passed away on April 17, 2024, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco. He was born in Donna, Texas, on July 13, 1944, to Florentino and Julia (Bernal) De Leon. Throughout his life, Florentino was a dedicated worker. As a young boy, he migrated with his family and learned the value of hard work. Florentino married Herminia Ruiz on August 26, 1960. He continued his career as a Migrant Worker, toiling tirelessly from 1975 to 1990. His hard work and determination led him to become a Formen at Tormina in Donna from 1990 to 2001.Beyond his professional life, Florentino had a passion for creativity. He found joy in painting beautiful artworks, crafting wood tables, and framing cherished family portraits. His artistic talents were one of the many ways he expressed his love for his family.Florentino DeLeon Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Herminia De Leon; his children, Juana Sandra Alviso, Juan Manuel Deleon, and Annavelle Fonseca; and his great-granddaughter, Samantha Nicole Aguilar. He is survived by his children, Patricia Deleon and Florentino Deleon III,son-in-law, Mario Alviso, his siblings, Olga Mendez, David DeLeon and wife Juany Solis, Orpha Jones, and Victor Cardenas; his grandchildren, Robert Alviso (Maria), Alma Alviso Ortega (Anthony Ortega), Julia Alviso, Ariel Fonseca, Maraya Carreno (Francisco), Mark Alaniz (Venessa), Elizabeth Rodriguez, Carlos Fonseca Jr, Dyanyra Fonseca, Elvira Fonseca, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12-3 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco.
