I was a college student when Frances Isbel hired me to work part time at the Weslaco Public Library. My experience working with a compassionate and positive person like her impacted my educational career.

I was honored to know Fran Isbell, since l974. Fran, Mrs. Ethel Swafford, the former librarian of the McAllen Memorial Library, and I spent some time in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, back in l975 touring the only public library in Mexico. I shall always treasure such memories and many good times I spent with Fran. I shall miss her smile, her wit and knowledge. Her legacy will live forever.
