Isabelle Canay Oliveira
November 19, 1919 — February 9, 2015
Isabelle Canay Oliveira, 95, of Weslaco, entered into Eternal Life with the Lord on February 9, 2015 at the Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on November 19, 1919 in Ramirez, TX. Isabelle will be remembered for the time she spent at Lionel's Western Wear greeting customers and sharing her vast collection of antiques. She had a deep affection for simple things and enjoyed spending time with her family in the country, especially back home at the ranch. Isabelle loved to sew, collect vintage dolls and was loved by all who knew her.
She was a member of San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Weslaco and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Ramirez, TX.
Isabelle is preceded in death by her loving spouse, Leonel Oliveira Sr., her parents, Juan and Maria Ramirez Canay and her sister America Canay Leo.
Isabelle is survived by her five daughters, Marie Isabelle Gutierrez (Hugo) of McAllen, Norma Leal (Gilbert) of Harlingen, Bertha Gutierrez (Hector) of Harlingen, Irma Resendez (Jaime) of Harlingen, Sandra Peña (Horacio) of Mission, and Son, Leonel Oliveira, Jr (Ana Dalia) of Weslaco.
She had 18 grandchildren: Hugo, Jaime and Carlos Gutierrez; Gilbert, Michael and Ricky Leal; Hector III, David and Aaron Gutierrez; Jaime Aparicio; Jessica, Dianey Denise, Alyssa, Josalynn and Leonel Oliveira III; Marc, Edward and William Peña.
She also had 18 great-grandchildren: Isabella, Catherine, Sebastian, Mia, Christian, Noah, Ashlyn, Dylan, Andrew, Ava, Ryan, Alaina, Diego, Julian, Dominic, Aiden, Emmalyn, and Adalyn.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2015, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at McCaleb Funeral Home, Weslaco, TX with a Rosary at 7:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015, 10:00 am at St. Pius Catholic Church, 600 South Oklahoma in Weslaco, TX 78596, with a second service at 2:00pm at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission in Ramirez, TX 78376.
