John Leroy Ivey Sr, "JL", passed after a hard battle with brain cancer, at the age of 74, on July 25, 2018. JL was born in Weslaco to Robert Dennie Ivey and Pearl Rea Gant on November 6, 1943. He and his twelve siblings grew up in Read Obituary

j.l. was my daddy's brother and as they got older they started looking more alike in the face. j.l. you will be dearly missed and i am so sorry i can't be there but just know i am there in spirit love you niece carol jean
I am so blessed for having had the privilege of knowing J. L., I was lucky enough to have felt the warmth of his friendship and kindness. We had many conversations regarding politics and enjoyed the same views, he always had such a great sense of humor. He certainly could make me laugh. I will miss you so much when I come to the Valley to visit. I know you had a hard fought battle here, but you are now resting in the arms of our heavenly Father and enjoying a reunion with all your family that has gone before you.
