Jose Luis Castellanos' Obituary
Weslaco – Jose "Luis" Castellanos, 53, passed away at his uncle's home in Nuevo León, Mexico.
Luis was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Gregorio and Maria (Rodriguez) Castellanos. As the oldest of three brothers, he naturally embraced the role of leader and mentor from an early age.
Luis married the love of his life, Angelica, and together they built a beautiful family, raising four children.
Following in his father's footsteps, Luis helped establish Castellanos Tile, a business that became well known throughout the Mid-Valley for its quality craftsmanship and outstanding service. Over the years, Luis worked alongside his father and brothers, eventually taking the lead in managing the company's daily operations, sales, and construction projects. He was a dedicated businessman who took great pride in his work, and his attention to detail could be seen in every project he completed. Generous with both his time and talents, Luis made it a point to tile the homes of many of his family members, leaving behind lasting reminders of his craftsmanship and love.
Outside of work, Luis enjoyed horse racing, trying his luck at the casinos, and cheering on his favorite soccer team, Tigres. He found peace while fishing in the waters off Port Mansfield and cherished spending time outdoors. More than anything, Luis loved gathering with family and friends for backyard cookouts, where his contagious smile, quick wit, and unexpected jokes kept everyone laughing.
Luis was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, and caring brother. He was a hardworking provider whose generosity, kindness, and integrity earned the respect of everyone who knew him. As a successful entrepreneur, he built not only a thriving business but also a legacy of perseverance and dedication. He took great pride in teaching his children everything he knew, both in business and in life, and will always be remembered as their greatest teacher.
Luis is survived by his beloved wife, Angelica Maria Castellanos; his parents, Gregorio and Maria Castellanos; his daughter, Sandra Castellanos; his sons, Jose Luis Castellanos, Fernando Jose Castellanos, and Jose Gabriel Castellanos; his brothers, Gregorio Castellanos Jr. (Jasmine) and Jorge Castellanos (Daniela), special nephew who was like a brother, Angel Antonio Castellanos; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Luis's life will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, and Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Luis will be laid to rest at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
