Joseph Hans Meyers' Obituary
Joseph Hans Meyers, was born on January 2,1931, in Chicago, Illinois. He died peacefully on March 3, 2026 in Alamo, Texas, at the age of 95. His long and fulfilling life was marked by his deep love for family, friends and community.
Joseph is survived by his 6 children, 3 daughters Teri Gharring, Andrea Thibert(John), and Michele Inman. and 3 sons Joseph Andrew Meyers(Chris), Matthew Meyers(Jane), and Jeffrey Lindau(Ida).his brothers Donald(Sue)Meyers and E.Ted(Joyce)Meyers and his sister Carolyn VanBuren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Cassandra Lopez, Christine Opel, Andy Phan, Skyler Lindau, Aaron Thibert, Melissa Pryce, Joseph Adam Meyers, and Kelsey Conneely, 16 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded, in death, by his father Joseph Meyers Sr(father), Hannah Meyers(mother), Louise Elaine Meyers(wife, died 1972), Beverly Ann Meyers(wife, died in 2013) and Jessica Boseman(granddaughter).
Joseph proudly served his country as a member of the United State Army during the Korean War, until 1953. His time in the military exemplified his dedication to service and country. When he returned, he went to work for Northern States Power Company as a lineman, and remained there until he retired in 1988.
A man of many passions, Joseph found joy in hunting and fishing with family and friends. These activities were not only pastimes but a chance to reconnect with family and friends. He also enjoyed family reunions and holiday get-togethers.
Joe's love for animals was evident throughout his life. Whether it was caring for pets or appreciating wildlife during his outdoor adventures, he had a special bond with all the creatures, great and small.
His home was a sanctuary where he found peace and happiness surrounded by those he loved. He was always more than willing to listen to any one in need of assistance in strategizing a way to fix a problem, or just listen to what someone had to get off their chest.
Joseph's legacy is one of love, resilience, and generosity- a life well-lived that touched countless hearts. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on March 17,2026 at 1:00 pm at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery. 2520 Inspiration Road in Mission Texas.
