Juan Francisco Campo's Obituary
Juan Francisco Campo, 85, passed away on January 4, 2026, at McAllen Medical Center. He was born on March 29, 1940, in Palencia, Spain, to Francisco Campo Martín and Hipólita Martínez Aguado.
After completing high school during Spain’s Franco dictatorship, Juan courageously left his homeland for Germany in search of a better future. There, he thrived—studying, learning the language, acquiring new skills, and finding meaningful work that he truly loved.
Several years later, his company transferred him to Venezuela. However, when political changes began steering the country toward dictatorship, Juan wisely returned to Spain.
Juan had a deep love for travel, especially to Germany and Switzerland, where he maintained lifelong friendships with fellow Spaniards.
A man of many interests, Juan enjoyed restoring and tinkering with antique German radios—a passion he learned from his father—and over the years, he had an impressive collection. He also loved classical music, especially Beethoven.
Juan was a gifted cook, and his meals were a source of joy for everyone who gathered around his table. Juan’s famous tortilla española—an egg and potato dish—was prize-worthy and a delicious Spanish specialty enjoyed by all who tasted it.
Juan and his beloved wife, Delia, met in Houston, Texas, where they lived for many years. They shared the joy of adventure and had wonderful trips, cherished moments, and priceless memories. When Juan wasn’t on the go, he enjoyed watching movies; his favorites were American western movies, It’s a Wonderful Life, and Casablanca.
Juan leaves behind his loving wife, Delia, his three beautiful daughters, whom he loved and was always proud of, Janine, Ingrid, and Emma. He was also a proud grandfather to Álvaro, Martín, Lara Xiao, and Paula, and recently welcomed the joy of becoming a great-grandfather to Pedrito. Also surviving are Juan’s brothers, Jose Maria Campo (Isabel) and Javier Campo (Mila+).
Juan lived life on his own terms, marked with courage, curiosity, resilience, and love. He was truly extraordinary—full of talent, knowledge, and a big heart. He loved life and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
