Leopoldo Mirola Sr.'s Obituary
Weslaco – Leopoldo Mirola Sr., 70, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 31, 2026. He was born on August 13, 1955, in Mexicali, Mexico, to Manuel and Victoria (Avila) Mirola.
Leopoldo’s family later moved to California, where he met the love of his life and soulmate, Elva Castillo. They were married in 1981 and, after many years together, made Weslaco their home in 1995, where they raised their family and built a life rooted in love and hard work.
Leopoldo was a dedicated worker, a dependable provider, and above all, a devoted family man. He took great pride in caring for his family and found joy in the simple things. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time outdoors tending to his plants, watching soccer and boxing, and relaxing with a good action movie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Victoria Mirola.
Leopoldo is survived by his beloved wife, Elva Mirola; his children, Elva Mirola (Mauricio Rubio), Elida Mirola (Jesus Bautista), Marta Mirola (Jose Luis Lozoya), Leopoldo Mirola Jr. (Vanessa), Manuel Mirola (Maggie), and Eduardo Mirola (Sara); his siblings, Ruben Mirola, Marta Mirola, Jose Mirola, Arturo Mirola, Modesto Mirola, Genoveva Mirola, and Beatrice Mirola; his cherished grandchildren, Mauricio Rubio Jr., Aileen Rubio, Alaesia Rubio, Jorge Rubio (Dyrea), Melany Bautista, Iaan Bautista, Millie Bautista, Derek Lozoya (Heather), Kelcey Lozoya, Alyssa Lozoya, Kaeley Lozoya, Haley Mirola, Leonel Mirola, Liam Mirola, Jayden Mirola, Aldo Mirola, and Axel Mirola; his great-grandchildren, Mateo Rubio, Luciano Mirola, and Serafin Morales; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at McCaleb Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Leopoldo will be laid to rest at Sacred Park Cemetery in Mercedes.
