Leticia O. Anzaldua's Obituary
Leticia O. Anzaldua, 69 of Weslaco passed away peacefully at Comfort House, a hospice facility in McAllen, TX on August 20, 2025, Letty as we all lovingly called her succumbed to a glioblastoma brain tumor which was diagnosed 14-1/12 months earlier. Previously, she was being cared for at Aurora House a hospice facility in Weslaco. She received excellent care at both facilities. These facilities are a tremendous resource for patients who need end of life care. In lieu of flowers those who wish may consider a donation to one of these hospice facilities.
Letty received excellent care from her oncologist physician Dr. Araneda at Texas Oncology in Harlingen. Her husband Ed Rodriguez and her best friend Nelda Flores visited Letty every day and provided comfort and care through her ordeal.
Letty was born in Mercedes, TX to the family of Victor Ruben (deceased) and Elva O. Garza who resided in Weslaco, TX. Letty had one living brother Victor Rene Garza (Dr. Viola Garza) and two other brothers who passed away at child birth.
Letty was married to Eddie Anzaldua and had a daughter Angela Anzaldua and a son Aaron Anzaldua. Letty latter divorced Eddie and spent 27 years with her partner Ed Rodriguez who she eventually married.
Letty was a very good daughter to her parents as she retired early to care for her elderly parents. She managed both her household, her parents, and some rental properties belonging to her parents during that time.
Letty attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic school through 3 grade and then graduated from Weslaco High School. Letty worked as an optician helping customers with eyewear at Mid Valley Optical in Weslaco.
Letty was energetic and hung out with her lifelong friend Nelda Cardenas Flores from the time they were kids playing in the neighborhood until Letty’s final days. They shared many experiences and did many things together. Letty was fortunate to have had such a wonderful life-long friend. Letty and Nelda were like sisters in every way.
Letty had a good sense of humor and was quick witted providing her take on things in a humorous way. She was a thoughtful and caring person, especially to her daughter, son, and two grandsons Andrew and Aden.
McCaleb Funeral Home of Weslaco is handling the funeral arrangements. Graveside burial of ashes will take place on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 9 a.m., at the Weslaco City Cemetery. The family asks that In lieu of flowers those who wish may consider a donation to the Aurora House or Comfort House hospice facilities.
