Lina M. Sanchez's Obituary
Weslaco – Lina M. Sanchez, 95, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026. Lina was born on November 8, 1930, in Cuero, Texas.
Lina was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent most of her career working in the custodial department at Knapp Medical Center, where she was a dedicated and valued member of the KMC team and truly loved her work community.
Outside of work, Lina enjoyed shopping—her favorite store was Dillard’s—and she had a fondness for antiques, collecting many hidden treasures over the years.
Above all, Lina’s life was devoted to serving God. She gave her life to the Lord at Iglesia Cristiana Bethel, where her spiritual journey began. Lina was always volunteering, supporting humanitarian causes, and witnessing to others through a life of service. She served in many capacities at several churches, including Iglesia Santa Pentecostés, Templo La Hermosa, and Templo El Buen Samaritano. Eventually, she answered the call to preach and founded her own church, Templo Rosa de Sarón. Lina was a willing servant of God, always ready to go wherever the Holy Spirit led her.
Her dedication, resilience, and faith were a testament to God’s grace and love, and a lasting example to the family she adored.
Lina is preceded in death by her husband, Rafael C. Sanchez; her parents, Pedro and Clarita Mascorro; her children, Esmeregildo Sanchez and his wife, Lupita, and Noe Sanchez; her grandchildren, Felix Sanchez and his wife, Flor Estella, Julian Garcia III, and Samantha Gonzalez; and her great-granddaughter, baby Crisabella Sanchez.
She is survived by her children, David Sanchez (Augustina †) and Nancy Ybarra; her daughter-in-law, Ana Sanchez (Noe †); fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at McCaleb Funeral Home. Lina will be laid to rest at Weslaco City Cemetery.
