Lois McClaugherty

Harlingen: Lois Jean McClaugherty, 97, passed away on Monday, April 17th, 2023. Lois was born on July 28th, 1925, to James Alber and Edith Nattinger in Earl Park, Indiana. The family moved to the Rio Grande Valley when Lois was three. 

Lois graduated from Edcouch Elsa High School, where she also met her future spouse, Lowell McClaugherty. They were married in 1949 and spent the next sixty-two years together when Lowell passed away. 

Lois worked in banking for many years. Her witty personality and infectious smile earned Lois lots of friends. She had a positive attitude and the natural ability to see the good in everyone she met. 

Lois loved crossword puzzles, murder mystery books, and watching Hannity. But, most of all, she loved her family and adored her dog Lacey, who was never out of sight. 

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, James and Edith Nattinger; her husband, Lowell McClaugherty; daughter, Diana Bostick; siblings, Ebb Nattinger, Marie Schneider, Dorris Brown, Jimmy Nattinger, Donald Nattinger, and Marvin Nattinger. 

She is survived by her son, Glen McClaughtery, granddaughter Morgan McClaughtery (Tony Slawson), and her beloved lab, Lacey.
