Lona Kiel's Obituary
Lona Kiel, 69, passed away on January 3, 2026, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX.
Lona was born in Wisconsin on September 11, 1956, to Edvin and Dolores Bigalke. She was a sister to Dan, Jeff, Ted, Don, and Lyne.
Holding a Master's Degree in Education as a Reading Specialist, Lona had a longstanding career at the Weslaco Independent School District, spanning more than 30 years. She taught English/Language Arts at multiple grade levels. Lona is fondly remembered by colleagues and students alike as soft-spoken and caring.
Most importantly, Lona was also a longtime and faithful member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church of Weslaco.
A funeral service to celebrate Lona's life will be officiated by Pastor Steven Wagenknecht at 11 am on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church.
