Donna

DONNA - Macaria Francisca Peralez Alvarez, 88, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at her residence in Donna. Macaria was born on March 1, 1935, to Francisco and Donicia (Sanchez) Peralez in Donna, Texas. She was raised in Doctoaroyo, Mexico, a small town near San Luis Potosi. As a teenager, Macaria moved back to Donna, where she met Carmen Alvarez. They were married on January 28, 1954.

Macaria and Carmen spent the first fifteen years of their marriage in Michigan. Then, they returned to Donna, where they raised seven children. Carmen worked as a truck driver, and Macaria managed the household while working full-time. Macaria worked as a seamstress for Williamson Dickies for thirty years when she retired.

Even after working all day as a seamstress, Macaria loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting during her free time. She was a great homemaker, and even with all the children, she kept a clean house and always had a hot meal ready. Macaria enjoyed working in her garden. She had a love for animals and took special care of her pets.

Macaria was a woman of faith, and she read her bible daily. She was loving, caring, and kind. Macaria always greeted you with a smile and open arms. She was a great mother and an even better grandmother and great-grandmother.

Macaria is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Donicia Peralez; her husband, Carmen Alvarez; brothers, Abraham Peralez, Frank Peralez, and Paul Peralez; grandson, Gerardo Manual Hinojosa; great-grandchildren, Kristian “Andrew” Gutierrez and Delia Rodriguez.
