I had the privilege of meeting this fabulous woman 42 years ago...who was my mentor and advisor in my younger years... she was like a mom to me. I have been blessed to have crossed paths with this wonderful God fearing woman. I will remember her wonderful capirotada, her amazing tamales, and her freshly made flour tortillas. Most of all her friendship. I will miss her but I know in my heart that it’s not goodbye but rather til we meet again. I know that she is with our Heavenly Father and her sweetheart and eventually we will join her. I will treasure our memories together forever.
May God bless each and every one of her children and family members.
I have a feeling she is whipping up her famous tamales, tortillas, or capirotada for all to enjoy in heaven. She was such a great cook.❤️

We had the privilege of being neighbors to the de la Garza family. Sra. Maria de la Garza always had a smile on her face. She loved having the neighborhood kids over to their home, and there was always an abundance of food. As all of us moved out, Sra. Maria and my mom became best buddies. They called each other tocayas because they had the same first name. She was always such a kind person and that is but one legacy she left for her children. Her children, too, have inherited this wonderful trait. I will miss going by, on our trips to the Valley, to visit with her. Our hearts ache for her family.
